It is known that losing weight helps in reducing the risk of bodily ailments, but a recent study published in the scientific journal NATURE revealed that regular aerobic exercise is significantly more effective than intense physical exertion in reducing the risk of bodily ailments (improving cognitive function) when it comes to weight loss.

The study included 14 women and 16 men in good health, aged between 22 and 32 years. The number of calories burned was measured during a week, and to divide the time allocated to the exercisers, moderate exercise and vigorous exercise were compared, significantly affecting calorie burning.

Participants in moderate exercise burned calories at a normal rate, but it was easier for people to commit to moderate exercise compared to vigorous exercise. This makes moderate exercise lead to burning a greater amount of calories. Walking, climbing stairs, and running are all types of exercise that help in weight loss, more than cognitive enhancement, if we commit to them regularly.
