How to prepare steak in a healthy way?
Steak can definitely fit into a balanced diet. I mean, there are tons of recipes out there, right? But the real secret to a healthy steak, and this is the first and most important thing to note, lies in how you prepare it. You need to find a lean cut of meat, one that doesn’t have too much fat or tendons. And, if you’re opting for steak made from salmon, there’s a healthy way to prepare it too.
1- Avoid using heavy creams or cheeses, or anything that adds extra fat like sauces, mayonnaise, or ketchup. That’s kinda obvious isn’t it?
2- Stick to healthy cooking methods instead of frying. Try grilling, or even better, baking it. I love adding spices or herbs instead of relying on salt.
3- Add some veggies or fruits to your meal. If you want to cut down on carbs, focus on getting those carbs from veggies instead of bread. Try swapping white rice for brown rice, or mashed potatoes for sweet potatoes or quinoa. And seriously, load up on those colorful veggies! They’ll add a ton of nutrients to your meal.
4- Use flavorful spices and lemon to add zest instead of salt, which can be high in sodium and can really mess with your blood pressure, especially since it’s already high in meat, especially red meat.
5- Don’t overdo it! Seriously, a small portion of steak can be a part of a healthy diet. Just make sure it’s prepared in a healthy way, high in protein, low in calories, and loaded with nutrients. Follow these tips and recipes for a healthy steak:
